Kitchens are where ALL the action is. They are where all the parties start and end, where late night chats happen with your teens and where the tantrums of the little ones happen. They are where a family creates traditions, celebrates, and has those laughs that you have where you don’t know why you’re laughing. Kitchens are the hearts and souls of our homes. They are where the love is.
Kitchen projects are my absolute favourite ones to help our clients with as there is such a huge transformation, not only to how the space feels but how they live in their homes.
Now like any renovation project, kitchens require good planning and can have an overwhelming number of decisions to make. Everything from cabinetry and countertops, to flooring, lighting, appliances and many more.
Before you can start you have to take some time to dream and to take inventory.
How do you live in your current space? Is it the hub of the family with work, arts and crafts, homework, as well as cooking going on? Is there room for all of that to happen in harmony? Or are you constantly moving and shifting things around as you go from task to task?
What, if anything, do you love about it? What are the biggest pain points?
And how do you want it to feel? Warm and cozy? Or uncluttered and efficient?
Get inspired and see some of the ways you can personalize your kitchen.
Cookie cutters are for cookies not for kitchens, so see what speaks to your heart. Look around at which of your friends and families’ kitchens make you feel comfortable. Make mental notes as to why that is.
Flip through magazines and surf online resources to get an idea of what’s out there – there are so many innovations these days. Things like touchless faucets and smart lighting as well as tried and true materials and products reimagined to make a fresh statement.
